I was wondering what the difference is between Rudolf Steiner's spiritual path and the spiritual approach in the Bhagavad Gita? I've heard a little bit about spiritual science and anthropsosophy, but wasn't sure how they relate to eastern spirituality.

Steiner, in his 60 plus books and his 6,000 plus lectures, updates the insights found in the Bhagavad Gita and unifies it with a completely non-sectarian Christianity. What we have in Steiner's spiritual path is both the inner, meditative and outer scientific world views merged.

I've heard of the terms 'spiritual science' associated with Rudolf Steiner - what exactly is this and how does it related to science?
By Flaxman on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 04:51 pm:

For Steiner, modern humanity requires using the same scientific method but directing perception inwardly and outwardly, rather than one or the other. This is the reason he called this method of thinking spiritual science.

In a lecture on Ancient Esoteric teachings and Rosicrucianism (Basel, Sept. 19, 1906), Steiner discusses the Eastern Yogic path, the Christian Path, and the Roscicrucian path. Steiner discusses how the Rosicrucian path is really a modification of the Yogic and Christian Path and is ideal for the modern aspirant, and goes on to say that the Rosicruician Path is laid down in How to Gain Knowledge of the Higher Worlds (originally published in Lucifer-Gnosis (I'm assuming that this is the now published as the book How to Know Higher Worlds?).

Steiner has also said that Goethe was a Rosicrucian. Do you feel that there is a difference between Anthroposophy and Rosicrucianism?

Spiritual Science is a modern form of Rosicrucianism. For Spiritual Science to stay alive it must not become another "ism," but must be life filled with active love and meaning. This requires the type of freedom of thought that can be gained through a study of the Gita.
